The delicate form and perfect balance of our Fonteyn design are synonymous with that of a ballerina, hence this design is fittingly named after Margot Fonteyn. Her supreme command of ballet earned her the status of Prima Ballerina Assoluta, as appointed by the Queen; cementing her as an icon of elegance and agility.
Marrying the success of the Fonteyn thumb turn and the Easy Use thumb turn, this Easy Use thumb turn is designed to be contemporary, yet suitable for most impaired users, or in situations where there are larger and/or heavier doors.
There are two sizes of rose backplates available, enabling designers to choose between having a symmetrical size rose to that of a lever or doorknob, or having a smaller size. A smaller rose creates an aesthetical hierarchy between the main feature (lever or knob), with the more discreet feature being the thumb turn.
If you're wondering which finish type to select, here's the key difference: living finishes gently patinate and change over time, ageing gracefully, whilst ageless finishes are either naturally unchanging, or boast a protective ceramic coating which mean the finish stays consistent.
Details
Our thumb turns are made from finest grade solid brass and are hand-finished in all the standard Joseph Giles finishes.
Thumb turns are used in conjunction with a privacy lock & an emergency release (each supplied separately) and are usually installed on a hinged WC/bathroom door.
A thumb turn is fitted to the inside of a WC door and is twisted clockwise to engage a privacy lock and anti-clockwise to disengage a privacy lock, whilst an emergency release is installed on the outside of the door and can be used in the event of an emergency to open the door.
They are supplied as single items with an inner rose, a decorative cover rose, the necessary fixings, and a 5mm square spindle.
