An electronic release is a highly secure and safe way of locking a door. We supply this one with a solid brass forend and fixings in all our signature finishes so that the finishes can be easily suited with other JG door hardware.
BF - branded forend plate with small JG logo, as per product images
UF - plain, unbranded forend plate
SPRINGING
HS - heavy sprung, recommended for use with heavy levers or lever handles being installed without our sprung bearing rose
MS - medium sprung, recommended for use with levers handles being installed with our sprung bearing rose
LS - light sprung, recommended for use with door knobs
Finish Types
If you're wondering which finish type to select, here's the key difference: living finishes gently patinate and change over time, ageing gracefully, whilst ageless finishes are either naturally unchanging, or boast a protective ceramic coating which mean the finish stays consistent.
Details
This mortice release is available with both long (suitable for timber installation) and short (suitable for metal installation) faceplate options. It is easily switched between fail locked and fail unlocked and is available in both monitored and non-monitored versions. It has a holding force of 2,000 lb (907Kg) and has been tested to 1,000,000 cycles.
In fail-safe mode (the most popular mode), the release will unlock when power is removed and in the fail-secure mode, it will lock when power is removed.
An electric release will need to be wired into a power source to be able to function; they are often used in conjunction with a lock that has a night latch function and will release a lock to enable a door to open via the following ways:

In the event of a fire (assuming the release has been wired-in to the fire alarm system and it is in fail-safe mode)
