The tranquil rock pools that grace the Italian landscape were the inspiration behind the Tiro collection. Carved into the bedrock by centuries of flowing water, these natural basins are mirrored in the stepped detail of each piece. Meaning pull in Italian, Tiro speaks to the function as much as to the fluid motion of water.
Created in collaboration with Studio Indigo, we’ve designed these pieces of hardware to be more than just points of contact; they are conversations with nature, a daily interaction with the art that’s formed from the earth's own natural processes.
Through Tiro, users pull open more than just doors; they unveil an experience, a connection to the elemental artistry of the world.
BEARING: Stainless steel roses with sealed ball bearings, for optimum performance. The bearing rose to bring smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common door knob issues. The unique bearing rose is our preferred option to be used with all door knobs.
BASIC: Flat aluminium rose, that may have to be used in some situations where the Grip Tight, Self-centring, Sprung Bearing Inner-Rose System cannot be accommodated, for example, thin metal doors. This rose option is not our preferred rose to supply with lever handles or door knobs, it does not offer any of the properties and or performance of the grip tight or sprung rose designs, and operation of the handles are purely down to the strength of the lock and highly accurate installation.
FIXED: Stainless steel roses with TIG-welded fixed spindles. A highly durable fixed rose for use where a lever handle or door knob is not required to turn, or rotate but is needed to be installed in a push/pull application, e.g. when used in conjunction with a magnetic catch on a cupboard door.
HSTO BEARING: Stainless steel single sided rose with TIG welded spindle with bearing for smooth operation, designed for door knobs. The bearing rose brings smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common door knob issues. To be operated from one side of the door by the use of a single door knob.
Finish Types
If you're wondering which finish type to select, here's the key difference: living finishes gently patinate and change over time, ageing gracefully, whilst ageless finishes are either naturally unchanging, or boast a protective ceramic coating which mean the finish stays consistent.
Details
The Tiro doorknobs are made from the finest grade solid brass or bronze and are carefully hand-finished in all the standard Joseph Giles finishes.
These products are aesthetically organic and to get this look they are cast from brass or bronze, the nature of casting means there will be variation in every door handle, making every one unique.
The minimalist roses enable the full purity of the handle design to be appreciated, however, the minimalist rose does not come with the benefits of the JG bearing grip tight inner roses. These handles will need to be installed by very skilled joinery craftsman.
*Pair of doorknobs includes:
One pair of doorknobs (two pieces)
One pair of minimalist roses (two pieces)
One set of fixings for lever handles which include washers, grub screws, allen key, and an 8mm (5/16) spindle to suit doors up to 54mm (2.12”) thick
**Doorknobs are also available as single handles. Please note, door knobs with a minimalist rose cannot be used as a single operating lever or dead fixed singularly.**
We recommend that our doorknobs are fitted with horizontal locks and latches to ensure the best operation.
