The Fitzherbert doorknob has been named after Maria Anne Fitzherbert – King George IV’s first true love and wife. Its creation has been inspired by The Royal Pavilion in Brighton with its rich and eclectic mix of architecture and decoration which takes extravagance to the highest level.
The Royal Pavilion was constructed by notable British architect John Nash as the seaside pleasure palace of King George IV who had a passion for French architecture, oriental styles as well as neoclassical and gothic design.
Details such as the large imposing perimeter octagonal columns, elaborate minarets, imposing domes, decorative cornice and detailed marquetry all play their part in the design of the Fitzherbert range.
The influence of these exquisite details has been incorporated into our collection of door furniture. Here you can see evidence of the external pillars at the entrance of the salon and delicate inlaid details taken from the embellishments on the East entrance hall wall. Combined this makes for a beautifully balanced and truly impacting door handle.
Please note, this product is made to order and quantity discounts are available.
If you're wondering which finish type to select, here's the key difference: living finishes gently patinate and change over time, ageing gracefully, whilst ageless finishes are either naturally unchanging, or boast a protective ceramic coating which mean the finish stays consistent.
Your selected primary finish will be applied to the main body of the door knob, with the secondary finish applied to the patterned inlay.

ROSE MECHANISM OPTIONS
BEARING: Stainless steel roses with sealed ball bearings, for optimum performance. The bearing rose to bring smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common door knob issues. The unique bearing rose is our preferred option to be used with all door knobs.
BASIC: Flat aluminium rose, that may have to be used in some situations where the Grip Tight, Self-centring, Sprung Bearing Inner-Rose System cannot be accommodated, for example, thin metal doors. This rose option is not our preferred rose to supply with lever handles or door knobs, it does not offer any of the properties and or performance of the grip tight or sprung rose designs, and operation of the handles are purely down to the strength of the lock and highly accurate installation.
FIXED: Stainless steel roses with TIG-welded fixed spindles. A highly durable fixed rose for use where a lever handle or door knob is not required to turn, or rotate but is needed to be installed in a push/pull application, e.g. when used in conjunction with a magnetic catch on a cupboard door.
HSTO BEARING: Stainless steel single sided rose with TIG welded spindle with bearing for smooth operation, designed for door knobs. The bearing rose brings smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common door knob issues. To be operated from one side of the door by the use of a single door knob.
