PRODUCT STORY

Inspired by the sixteenth century Italian architect Andrea Palladio, the Boyle collection provides a beautifully refined neo-classical design to our suite of fittings.


Such was the admiration for Palladio, that Richard Boyle, the 3rd Earl of Burlington, based the 1726 rebuild of his residence, Chiswick House, around the Italian architects famous Villa Rotonda, near Vicenza.


Chiswick House’s wealth of visual sources such as interior half-filled fluted pillars, decorative architraves, soffits, portico’s and balustrade staircases are just a few of the sumptuous elements depicted in our Boyle collection.

DETAILS

The ‘Boyle ’ doorknobs are made of the finest grade solid brass and are available in all the standard Joseph Giles finishes. 


Our doorknobs come with a 10-year mechanical guarantee and are supplied with the unique JG bearing grip tight inner rose system.


* Pair of doorknobs includes:

  • One pair of doorknobs (two pieces)
  • One pair of decorative cover roses (two pieces)
  • One pair of unique JG bearing grip tight inner roses** (two pieces)
  • One set of fixings which include screws, bolt through fixings, washers, grub screws, allen key and an 8mm (5/16) spindle to suit doors up to 54mm (2.12”) thick.


*Doorknobs are also available as single handles

** Other types of JG inner roses are available for specialist applications, see the ‘Rose mechanism booklet‘, however, we strongly recommend the bearing grip tight rose because of its incredible performance.


We recommend that our doorknobs are fitted with horizontal locks and latches to ensure the best operation.

Rose Mechanism

SPBEARING

Stainless steel roses with springing mechanism and sealed ball bearings, for optimum performance.

The unique rota-bearing sprung rose brings smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common lever handle issues. The unique rota-bearing sprung rose is our preferred option to be used with all lever handles.

BEARING

Stainless steel roses with sealed ball bearings, for optimum performance.

The bearing rose to bring smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common door knob issues. The unique bearing rose is our preferred option to be used with all door knobs.

BASIC

Flat aluminium rose, that may have to be used in some situations where the Grip Tight, Self-centring, Sprung Bearing Inner-Rose System cannot be accommodated, for example, thin metal doors.

This rose option is not our preferred rose to supply with lever handles or door knobs, it does not offer any of the properties and or performance of the grip tight or sprung rose designs, and operation of the handles are purely down to the strength of the lock and highly accurate installation.

FIXED

Stainless steel roses with TIG-welded fixed spindles.

A highly durable fixed rose for use where a lever handle or door knob is not required to turn, or rotate but is needed to be installed in a push/pull application, e.g. when used in conjunction with a magnetic catch on a cupboard door.

HSTO BEARING

Stainless steel single sided rose with TIG welded spindle with bearing for smooth operation, designed for lever handles and door knobs.

The bearing rose to bring smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common door knob issues. To be operated from one side of the door by the use of a single door knob.
