SF1095.RL: Slim Maurice Recessed Pull- Release

PRODUCT STORY

Inspired by the use of arches in architecture, the Maurice range takes its name from the contemporary addition to the Gothic cathedral of Angers, La Galilée de Saint-Maurice d’Angers, where architect Kengo Kuma played with the shape of the arch to create the stunning multi-faceted entrance.

For centuries architects have graced their projects with oval arch details, often integrating them into the facades of buildings, providing a soft and calming entrance.

‌

Another fascinating and quiet different use of an arch detail is the Ouse Valley viaduct in Sussex, England. The towering structure could have been a blot on the landscape, but the 37 semi-circular brick-built arches, which are perfectly aligned, provide a graceful elegance to what could have been an overpowering structure.

‌

With the Maurice range we are hoping to bring some of the graceful and versatile influences of oval shapes into the finer details of interiors.

DETAILS

This recessed pull and privacy thumbturn are made from the finest grade solid brass and are hand-finished in all the standard Joseph Giles finishes.

This product is used in conjunction with a sliding door privacy hook lock & a recessed pull & emergency release (each supplied separately) and are usually installed on a sliding WC/bathroom door. The recessed pull & emergency release normally used in conjunction is the SF1095.TT.

‌

A thumbturn is fitted to the inside of a WC door and is twisted clockwise to engage a privacy hook lock and anti-clockwise to disengage the lock, whilst an emergency release is installed on the outside of the door and can be used in the event of an emergency to open the door.

This product is suitable for doors less than 44mm thick. When fitting these products, they will require bonding into the door. This product has passed an installation strength test when fitted with Evo-stick mirror adhesive, however Joseph Giles have not tested the combination of this product and these adhesives on every possible door substrate and in every possible situation, so we would advise you run your own tests before installing this product with any adhesives, including Evo-stick mirror adhesive.

SPBEARING

Stainless steel roses with springing mechanism and sealed ball bearings, for optimum performance.

The unique rota-bearing sprung rose brings smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common lever handle issues. The unique rota-bearing sprung rose is our preferred option to be used with all lever handles.

BEARING

Stainless steel roses with sealed ball bearings, for optimum performance.

The bearing rose to bring smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common door knob issues. The unique bearing rose is our preferred option to be used with all door knobs.

BASIC

Flat aluminium rose, that may have to be used in some situations where the Grip Tight, Self-centring, Sprung Bearing Inner-Rose System cannot be accommodated, for example, thin metal doors.

This rose option is not our preferred rose to supply with lever handles or door knobs, it does not offer any of the properties and or performance of the grip tight or sprung rose designs, and operation of the handles are purely down to the strength of the lock and highly accurate installation.

FIXED

Stainless steel roses with TIG-welded fixed spindles.

A highly durable fixed rose for use where a lever handle or door knob is not required to turn, or rotate but is needed to be installed in a push/pull application, e.g. when used in conjunction with a magnetic catch on a cupboard door.

HSTO BEARING

Stainless steel single sided rose with TIG welded spindle with bearing for smooth operation, designed for lever handles and door knobs.

The bearing rose to bring smooth, positive and flawless operation while addressing all the common door knob issues. To be operated from one side of the door by the use of a single door knob.
