LV1202: Fonteyn Lever & Oval Back Plate

PRODUCT STORY

The slender form of the ‘Fonteyn’ follows the uniquely distinctive lines of a handle designed by Italian architect Gio Ponti. As beautiful as the original handle was, the size did not suit many of the modern-day door proportions. We have recreated this timeless masterpiece, being careful to stay true to the original form whilst carefully increasing the proportions.

The delicate form and perfect balance are synonymous with that of a ballerina, hence this design is fittingly named after Margot Fonteyn. Her supreme command of ballet earned her the status of Prima Ballerina Assoluta, as appointed by the Queen; cementing her as an icon of elegance and agility.
