As part of an urban extension to the Dorset county town, located in the South West of England, the new Poundbury development is being advocated by the Prince of Wales as a ‘new vision for Britain’. The community, which is constructed on 400 acres of land, has become increasingly influential since it began development in 1993. The communities carefully considered architecture pays tribute to the beautiful traditional elements of British culture, which are revered worldwide.
Joseph Giles were elected to work meticulously alongside C G Fry & Son, the appointed contractors for this project, to yield a sleek, classic and sophisticated design that would effectively preserve the traditional and forward-thinking character of the Poundbury community. As such, we were specified to provide luxury hardware from both our standard range of products as well as providing several bespoke pieces.
This included our geometrically ridged ‘Theodore’ lever handles (LV1060), our Adelphi door pull in mid-antique brass waxed (DP1015) with a matching finished bespoke backplate and the Bartlett lever handles (LV1058) on bespoke roses. In addition, we provided non-decorative hardware including escutcheons, recessed bolts and door stops.
